I'm sitting at my desk and facing an entirely new direction. Why? I changed the configuration of my room significantly. I'm not quite done with the space part of my revamp, but it's getting there. I'll write about it once it's done. Maybe next week?
In the meantime, facing a new direction has me thinking about perspective. Rotating my desk 90° has made my workspace feel fresh and new. Having the window on my right instead of in front of me is making me feel like I have more room. As a bonus, I no longer have to move my desk every time I want to open my window (desk is too wide, can't get it open if I reach over my desk).
Sometimes a breath of fresh air is more about changing perspectives than changing places, locations, relationships or anything else. Sometimes you can find more space where you are now just by looking at things differently or sitting in a new direction.
Big Hero 6 is one of my favourite recent animated movies (the only thing I wish was different? I wish Hiro was a girl. We don't have enough awesome nerdy smart girls in movies..STILL). And that scene above? It highlights two important concepts:
- Shake things up, look for a new angle.
- Small things can band together to make big things happen.
It all comes back to the same thing for me: consistency. Taking small steps consistently and lead to a large change or a big result.
That's all for today. My big thought. I'm working on a post that kicks off a small wedding series on the blog – a behind the scenes of making this wedding happen. So that's going to happen.
